After switching to a live connection, the client’s Tableau dashboards became slow and difficult to use. Our goal was to preserve real-time access while improving performance, responsiveness, and overall usability for stakeholders.

The client used Tableau dashboards for near real-time reporting, where speed and interactivity were critical. The move to live connectivity ensured up-to-date data, but introduced major performance issues in daily use.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

The dashboards were processing too much data at once, and many calculations were handled inside Tableau rather than in the database. The client needed a solution that would reduce load time and improve interactivity without compromising real-time reporting requirements.

We optimized the dataset and dashboard logic to reduce query load and speed up interaction. By removing unused columns, shifting aggregations to the database, and applying a default 12-month date filter, we significantly improved dashboard performance while keeping live data access intact.
