About vacancy:

We are looking for a Middle AI Engineer to join a U.S.-based project for a university developing an AI-powered digital assistant for students. The chatbot helps students with class schedules, assignments, campus events, and sports activities. You’ll join a small, highly skilled team already working on the project — frontend, backend, a team lead, and a principal consultant. This is a hands-on role focused on building and optimizing AI-driven automation and chatbot functionality.

Qualifications:

4–5+ years of professional experience in software engineering;

Strong working knowledge of TypeScript or Python;

Proficiency in building AI workflows using LangChain;

Hands-on experience with RAG pipelines and vector databases;

Experience developing workflow automation tools (e.g., n8n, Rivet);

Knowledge of FastAPI or Flask frameworks;

Experience integrating AI models and APIs into backend systems;

Understanding of CI/CD, Docker, and AWS deployment practices;

Familiarity with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing);

Solid understanding of automated testing (unit, integration, performance);

Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients;

English level: Strong Upper-Intermediate - Advanced.

Nice to have: Experience with model fine-tuning or deploying open-source models; Familiarity with reinforcement learning and feedback loop systems.

Project description:

The project is a collaboration with a U.S. university to develop an intelligent assistant designed to help students navigate their academic and campus life. The AI chatbot provides personalized support, integrates multiple data sources, and leverages LLM capabilities for natural and context-aware responses. You’ll work on designing, developing, and deploying the chatbot MVP, with the first launch planned for May and a production rollout in August.

Tech stack: Python, FastAPI, Flask, LangChain, OpenAI API, spaCy (NLP stack).

Team composition: Team Lead, Principal Consultant, Frontend Developer, Backend Developer.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement AI-driven chatbot logic and backend workflows;

Integrate backend services with AI models and APIs;

Develop, test, and deploy chatbot MVP;

Optimize chatbot performance and user interaction;

Collaborate with cross-functional team members to refine product features;

Prepare and support system for production rollout.

Typical tasks for the next 6 months:

Build and deploy the chatbot MVP;

Test and improve conversational logic and user experience;

Support final QA and bug-fixing phase before full rollout in August.
